Extractions And Bone Grafting

Bone grafting, normally a minor surgical procedure, is done in the dental office.

Bone Grafting

Bone grafting is a surgical procedure preformed using transplanted bone to repair and rebuild diseased or damaged bones in the jaw that anchors teeth, using one or more different bone grafting options.

Are There Different Types of Bone Grafts?

There are many different types of dental bone grafting, all prefromed by a dentist, periodontist or oral surgeon. The most  common types are:

Socket Preservation

A type of bone grafting procedure designed to protect the alveolar ridge and empty tooth socket from decaying. It also helps to preserve the health and structure of your natural bone.

Ridge Augmentation

Usually preformed after a tooth extraction, a ridge augmentation is performed by placing tissue or a bone graft to fill the void from your missing tooth and create a healthy base for a dental implant.

Sinus Lift

Also known as sinus augmentation, a sinus lift refers to the augmentation, or lifting up of the maxillary sinus, making more room for new bone.

Dental Bone Graft

A procedure performed to increase the amount of bone in a part of the jaw, where bone has been lost or where additional support is needed.
